OSU’s Daily Barometer had a great writeup on Monday about the Empty Bowls event this past weekend. More than 175 people attended and made donations — congratulations, volunteers! Empty Bowls is a project to fight hunger, personalized on a community level. The idea behind Empty Bowls is to remind people of all the empty bowls in the world today. In exchange for a meal, guests give a suggested minimum donation. The meal proceeds are all then given to a local hunger-fighting organization, such as a soup kitchen or OSU’s very own Emergency Food Pantry. Empty Bowls events can be sponsored by local artists, community service organizations, churches or schools.
